From 1864 to 1914, Vanity Fair magazine featured a full page caricature of a person of prominence at that time. The majority of the prints were coloured by chromo-lithography, an victorian method of printing using many stone blocks. To raise sales of the magazine, the prints were offered as collectors items, and have since become highly sought after....
